Loosely based on a short story called The Lost Girl by a colleague Rick Corbett, Night is a short film about a man who is a hired 'fixer' who is in love and seeing a woman he does not yet know is a federal agent nor that she's been tasked with taking him down. The tale then takes an unexpected turn into the unconscious mind. The man is in what appears to be a near-miss accident but something isn't right. This place is different.
Bill Doherty Jr. stars in this short as The Man. Bill's prior relation to Cloud Thirteen Productions includes his role in Festival as Richard.
Penelope Korff stars as The Woman. Penelope has been acting in the Boston area for a few years while operating her own web design business Korff Design.
Production has completed on Night. We finished in at about 9 days of shooting. It was a huge short with many locations and very challenging setups both night and day. The shot list included more than 100 varying shots through the 20 pages of script.
We could not have asked for a better team of professionals to be a part of this short. A true crew list will go up eventually but there are a few specials that need to be mentioned:
Rocco Michaluk (Video & Vision) and Rajah Samaroo (Edge Infinity) rented out their personal equipment so that Night would be able to shoot it's scenes with lighting equipment. Rajah's van 'Daisy' came packed with a great grip kit. Rocco lent an amazing ARRI light kit that made the night scenes exactly what we needed. Both of these people and their companies are great resources in the New England area.
Night started a project on Kickstarter for a 60 day end date. From the start things to progress nicely and towards the end people began flooding in to help us hit the mark and go over.
Funding was successful on July 28th with an ending goal of $2,765 (110%). The funds were used to pay cast, crew, locations and many other production costs. In doing this, the project would get the support it needed financially and offered some great rewards to the backers.
Aside from a few generous backers who asked to remain anonymous, here is a list of the great people who backed the project in alphabetical order. A huge and gracious thank you to everyone who contributed. We truly could not have done any of this without you:
